Living the Startup Dream!

Oblumi was a company created during the Startup Weekend Sevilla in November of 2013. Four people joined to work on an idea initially from Juan Flores, a genius who proposed to connect an infrared sensor to a mobile phone by using the audio jack, the one you usually use for connecting headphones.

The beauty of the idea is that by using the audio signal instead of Bluetooth or the USB, you can build a much cheaper hardware device that does not need to go through any certification.

But the competition was not only about cool tech ideas; the point was to create a Startup in 48 hours. So, the challenge was to find a problem that could be solved with our device. We found that a thermometer to measure the body temperature could be an excellent idea to explore, as you could convert the thermometer into a powerful device. A perfect solution for small kids.

After the excitement of winning the competition, we decided to give everyone a couple of months and meet again to see if this business idea made sense. We all had jobs, so we needed to make the hard decision to leave everything and start the Startup journey.
